It is not the same as peeling products used at home. The target, the ingredients used, the intensity, the contact time and the treatment depth together determine the effect; this page does not recommend an unverified acid, concentration, brand or protocol.

In which skin problems can it be considered?

Peel options may be considered for a dull or uneven surface, some superficial discoloration, selected concerns in acne-prone skin or subtle texture differences. Not every mark has the same cause, and not every peel is suitable during active acne. Diagnosis matters when estimating benefit and pigmentation risk.

Difference between superficial, medium and deep peeling

Peels are classified not only by product name but also by the depth of their effect in the skin. Recovery may be milder after a superficial peel, whereas deeper peels can involve more visible shedding, longer aftercare and a higher risk of complications. Depth should not be increased simply at a person's request; skin type, the concern being treated and safety limits are decisive.

Pre-procedure evaluation

Skin tone and pigmentary tendency, active infection, history of herpes, eczema or dermatitis, wound healing, isotretinoin and other medication, previous procedures and sun exposure are discussed. The risk of post-procedure hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation requires particular care in darker skin tones. Treatment may be postponed after a recent sunburn or when the skin-care routine has disrupted the barrier.

What happens during and after the treatment?

After the skin is cleansed, the peel is applied in a controlled manner; a burning or stinging sensation may occur. Some formulations are neutralized, while others use a different end point. Redness, tenderness, tightness and peeling may follow depending on treatment depth. Picking at the skin, restarting irritating products too soon and unprotected sun exposure may increase the risk of pigment change.

Why is sun protection essential?

After treatment, the skin barrier and pigment response may be more sensitive to sunlight. Broad-spectrum sunscreen, shade, hats and limiting sun exposure are part of aftercare. Protection is not merely an extra step for a few days, but an ongoing habit intended to reduce the risk of discoloration.

Risks and warning signs

Prolonged redness, irritation, darkening or lightening, infection and, rarely, scarring may occur. Severe pain, blistering, marked swelling, discharge or a rapidly worsening wound requires medical assessment.
