What does Q-switch mean?<\/h2>\n

Q-switch is the working method that allows laser energy to be delivered in very short pulses; it is not a single device or a single wavelength. Different Q-switch lasers can target different pigments. The model of the device and the authorized area of use must also be verified.<\/p>\n

Why is the diagnosis of pigment important?<\/h2>\n

Sunspot, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and pigmentary lesions are not the same. Laser should not be applied without a diagnosis of a new, changing or irregular formation. The source and depth of the pigment affect the result and risk.<\/p>\n

Skin tone and test approach<\/h2>\n

Skin tone, recent tanning, recent sun exposure and previous color changes are evaluated. In dark skin tones, the risk of unwanted darkening or lightening may require more careful planning. In some cases, a small test area may be considered.<\/p>\n

Treatment and safety<\/h2>\n

Protective eyewear, appropriate parameters and a trained practitioner are essential safety measures. Discomfort, temporary redness, swelling, crusting or darkening may occur. Blistering, increasing pain or an unexpected color change requires medical assessment.<\/p>\n

Melasma and recurrence<\/h2>\n

Q-switch laser is not the first option in melasma. Although some studies report benefits, there is a risk of recurrence, post-inflammatory darkening and mottled opening. Sun protection and topical care remain important in most plans.<\/p>\n

The difference with other methods<\/h2>\n
